Last Friday we had to tell you the touch-screen MacBook Pro and the OLED iPad mini rested on hands-on impressions only. That changed this week. The full reviews are in, and Apple's store lists the MacBook as "Available starting 11.6." That's today. The reviewers like the hardware a lot more than the prices.
This is a short issue. All four picks ran in our Oct 30 issue, and we re-checked every price on the maker's own store on the evening of Nov 5, 2026. These are US prices, and they vary by region. We don't get paid for these picks, and every link goes to the maker's own store.
This week's 4 at a glance
- MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display: Apple's touch-screen MacBook Pro, on sale Nov 6, with full reviews in$2,899
- iPad mini (A20 Pro): the OLED iPad mini, on sale Nov 6, with full reviews in$699
- Fitbit Edge: Google's tracker with a screen and up to 7 days of battery$179.99
- Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition: Dell's RTX Spark laptop, same price as last week$3,799.99
1. MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display
Joe Osborne gave the 14-inch model 4.0 out of 5 and an Editors' Choice award in his full PCMag review. His summary of the screen reads, "It's Apple's first touch panel, and the finest laptop OLED we’ve seen." The cons he lists are short and blunt: "Screen upgrades drive a sizable price hike" and "Fans are loud under load." He also found that a lot of touching gets tiring, and the panel smudges easily unless you pay extra for Apple's nano-texture coating.
Andrew E. Freedman tested the 16-inch version for Tom's Hardware and gave it an Editor's Choice too. He calls the screen "the best laptop screen I've ever seen." His first reason to skip it is two words long: "Very expensive."
He has a point. On Apple's store, the 14-inch model starts at $2,899 with an M5 Pro chip, 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage, and the 16-inch starts at $3,399. Apple lists the 14-inch at 3.0 pounds with the M5 Pro and up to 22 hours of video streaming.
Price and where to buy: $2,899 for the 14-inch model at the Apple Store, price checked Nov 5, 2026.
2. iPad mini (A20 Pro)
Nathan Ingraham reviewed it for Engadget on Nov 3 and scored it 8.5 out of 10. He lists a "Lovely OLED display" as a pro, and his two cons are the ones most buyers will notice: "$200 more expensive than the last iPad mini was at launch" and "Screen refresh rate is still 60Hz."
Scharon Harding at Ars Technica is even warmer about the hardware: "There isn’t much more you can ask of an iPad this small." Her complaint is the price, which she points out sits just $50 under the cheapest 11-inch iPad Air.
Apple's spec page lists an 8.5-inch OLED screen at 2316 by 1512, an IP67 rating for water and dust (up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes) and up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi or watching video. It comes in Midnight or Starlight.
Price and where to buy: $699 for 128GB with Wi-Fi at the Apple Store, price checked Nov 5, 2026.
3. Fitbit Edge
We covered the early reviews of Google's Edge last week, and the price hasn't moved. Google's spec page lists a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen, built-in GPS and up to 7 days of battery life. It works with iPhones on iOS 16.4 or higher and Android phones on Android 11 or newer.
The store page also pitches three months of Google Health Premium "on us." That's the membership that Google's personalized coaching, built with Gemini, comes with. Google's Fitbit Edge store footnote says the trial is for new and returning users only (one per customer, not transferable), requires a payment method and a compatible device, lasts three months, then auto-renews at $9.99 a month unless you cancel, and the offer ends 10/27/27; you must be 18 or older, and Premium isn't available in every country. See the store footnote and g.co/fitbit/terms.
Price and where to buy: $179.99 at the Google Store, price checked Nov 5, 2026.
4. Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition
Still $3,799.99. That base model gets NVIDIA's RTX Spark N1X chip with 18 cores, 32GB of memory, a 512GB SSD and a 16-inch touch screen at 3200 x 2000. Dell lists it at 0.70 inch thick and 4.45 pounds at minimum.
If you're buying it as a gift, Dell's product page has a holiday return window: consumer purchases made at Dell.com from Nov 1 through Dec 29, 2026 can be returned until Jan 15, 2027, or 30 days from delivery, whichever is later. The one full review we quoted last week tested a $4,799.99 build, not this one.
Price and where to buy: $3,799.99 for the base model at Dell, price checked Nov 5, 2026.
