Thursday night takeout just changed inside Amazon. U.S. Prime members can now order restaurant delivery powered by Uber Eats right on Amazon.com and in the Amazon Shopping app, with a $0 Delivery Fee (price as of ; official source (opens in a new tab)) on qualifying restaurant orders of $25 or more. No new Uber app. No separate Uber account. You sign in with the Amazon login you already use and pay with the payment methods already on the account.
The same day, Amazon's restaurant perk through Grubhub ends on Amazon.com and in the Shopping app. If you already turned on Grubhub+ through Prime, that membership itself keeps working through December 31, 2027. New Grubhub orders through Amazon are done.
Amazon and Uber announced the swap on Nov. 5. The benefit reaches Prime members in nearly ten thousand U.S. cities and towns, including Amazon's half-price plans Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access. Households that share Prime through Amazon Family can use the waived delivery fee on Uber Eats orders with one adult in the household.
How the Uber Eats benefit works
Amazon's pitch is simple: dinner lands in the same place you already buy batteries, toilet paper and Thursday Night Football. Open Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app and search "Uber Eats." Browse nearby restaurants, place the order with your Amazon payment method, then watch status updates by email and push notification. Uber Eats sends a final order confirmation after that.
National chains such as Wingstop, Chipotle and Sweetgreen show up in the launch examples, along with local spots Amazon named in Houston and San Francisco. Selection mirrors a broad Uber Eats restaurant list rather than a tiny Amazon-only menu, and the companies say rural and suburban towns are in scope alongside the big metros.
Delivery fee is the line that matters at checkout. Every Uber Eats restaurant order of $25 or more placed on Amazon from a qualifying restaurant gets a $0 Delivery Fee. Service fees, tips and menu prices still work the way Uber Eats usually charges them. Amazon's launch press also floats Prime-exclusive offers on Amazon that could save more than $175 a year compared with ordering on Uber Eats without Uber One — that figure is an estimate based on August 2026 order patterns, varies by order, and is not guaranteed.
Two short launch perks sit on top of the fee waiver:
| Perk | Detail |
|---|---|
| Intro discount | $20 off (price as of ; official source (opens in a new tab)) each of the first two Uber Eats restaurant orders of $25 or more in the first 14 days |
| Prime Visa | 5% back on Uber Eats orders through December 5, 2026 (eligible Prime membership required) |
Prime itself still costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year for a standard membership, with a free 30-day trial when you qualify. Young Adults and Prime Access stay on Amazon's discounted tracks.
Grubhub on Amazon ends today
Amazon first bundled free Grubhub+ into Prime in 2022 and later made it an ongoing perk. That commercial agreement ends Thursday, Nov. 5. An Amazon spokesperson told TechCrunch the company continuously evaluates third-party offers and saw a chance to improve the restaurant delivery experience. A Grubhub spokesperson confirmed the Amazon.com and Shopping app ordering path is closed for Prime members.
Already-activated Grubhub+ is the soft landing. Members who turned that membership on through Prime can keep using it through the end of 2027. Everyone else looking for restaurant delivery inside Amazon is pointed at Uber Eats now.
Amazon and Uber already work together elsewhere — cloud computing, Zoox robotaxis, and Uber Eats inside Alexa+ — so this is a deeper consumer-facing layer on an existing relationship, not a first handshake.
What to do now
-
If you want dinner through Amazon tonight, open Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app and search "Uber Eats" while signed into Prime. Confirm the restaurant, the $25 threshold for $0 delivery, and your tip before you place the order.
-
If you used Grubhub through Amazon, stop looking for that tile on Amazon.com. Check whether Grubhub+ is still active in the Grubhub app or site. If it is, you can keep that membership through December 31, 2027; if it never activated, the Amazon path is closed.
-
Use the intro discount while it lasts. The $20-off offer on the first two $25+ Uber Eats orders runs for the first 14 days from launch. Offers can change; Amazon says to check the site or app for current terms.
-
Prime Visa holders: the 5% back on Uber Eats runs through December 5, 2026. Treat that as a short calendar item, not a permanent card perk.
-
Watch for phishing. Amazon and Uber will not email you a "verify your Prime food benefit" link that asks for your password. Type amazon.com yourself.
The practical test is tonight's order: same Amazon login, a new restaurant list, and a delivery fee that drops to zero once the cart clears $25. Grubhub's Amazon door closed on the same afternoon the Uber Eats door opened — which is either convenient or confusing, depending on which app you already had open when the press release hit.
